Pito and Tea bread! I tell you, it’s a must try.
I was running an errand when I saw a group of people drinking pito in one corner. I made a remark about how I would like to be part of their mid-afternoon activity- pito drinking.
Pito is a type of beer made from fermented millet or sorghum. Unlike industrially processed beer, pito is said to have some health benefits. People like me prefer it because fresh pito contains no alcohol.
My colleague whom I made the remark to, told me to try it with tea bread; not sugar bread, not butter bread, not even wheat bread- tea bread! It was amusing because I had never heard of that combo before but he seemed bent on me trying his discovery.
I got myself one calabash worth of fresh pito, poured into a plastic bottle, brought it home and kept in the fridge for a while. With my tea bread, spread with margarine, I set before me, pito and tea bread.
Hmm! Pito and tea bread! It went well- so well that I know I’m going to make it a regular thing. Maybe I’m exaggerating but I recommend you try it to draw your own conclusion.
